I gave my copy of Bob Kowalski's latest thing on programming in
predicate calculus ("Logic for Problem Solving" I think) to JFS.

I have copies of most of the important recent reports on Mathematical
Semantics but I intend to leave them here (e.g. I could donate them
to you) - I need to minimise my weight for the flight home and such
papers are easy to get hold of in Edinburgh.

 Mike.

 	Bye, see you in December.
Let me know if you have any suggestions. If you want to monitor progress,
the accumulation on [pap, ref] may or may not mean something.
 	Have fun

This system makes it impossible for anyone with a graphics home
terminal to use it overthe dialup lines, because the
system insists on inserting a <crlf> every 72 characters of output, even
if those characters are graphics control characters. Thus any reasonable
graphics output gets totally garbaged, and there is no way to bypass
the <crlf> insertion except to use a TIP if one has access to it and it
 is up.

Assuming the AMPEX disk comes up anytime soon, I'm planning to configure it
with two UDPs. I know we discussed this before and decided not to do that,
but since Librascope is down (and to my knowledge there's no prognosis),
various users of UDPs including myself, RWW, JAM and the other musicians,
 are being impacted.
I believe the effort involved in this configuration is entirely miminal,
involving a three-line edit and reassembly of the system. Should it be
necessary to debug that code, I'll reconsider doing it, or if the librascope
 situation changes, I'll reconsider.

 TO: SAIL blood donors
 FROM: BPM
 RE: Upcoming donation

The SAIL Blood Donor Group is scheduled to give blood at the American
Red Cross--Stanford University Blood Center on Wednesday and Thursday
(20-21 August) of next week. The Blood Center is open Monday through
Thursday from 9 am to 1 pm and again from 3 pm to 7 pm, Fridays from
9 am to 3 pm, and alternate Saturdays from 9 am to noon.

→→→ I need to know during which day and at which hour or half hour
you plan to donate, or if you don't plan to donate. ←←←

If you don't plan to donate during either of our scheduled days, you
can go on your own whenever is most convenient for you. Just call
ahead (493-1363) to make an appointment and tell them you are
donating as part of the SAIL Donor Group. Also let me know that you
 have donated on your own.

The Blood Center is located at 3330 Hillview Avenue, Palo Alto 94304,
which is across from the VA Hospital. The easiest way to get there
from SAIL is to take Page Mill Road to Foothill Expressway, right
onto Foothill approximately half a mile to Hillview Avenue, left onto
Hillview about two blocks, and left into the Blood Center parking
 lot.

I have a brochure from the American Red Cross--Stanford University Blood Center
describing the Stanford Heart Disease Prevention Program. By donating blood
you can receive a free cholesterol check and will be notified of the results,
after which you may or may not be interested in the Heart Disease Prevention
Program. Let me know if you want more details.

I have been working on the ARPA proposal and there is still more to do.
One copy needs to be in Washington by tonight. Therefore I would like
to cancel this afternoons class. I am sorry if this late announcement
has caused antone an undue amount of trouble. We will meet as usual
next monday, when AJT will discuss ZF with individuals and we will
 talk more about the paradoxes.

 					thanks,

Now that we've done the ARPA proposal (you DID finish, didn't you?),
its time to do the annual report. Actually past time, as usual.
 Sigh.

It is perfectly reasonable to use as much of the stuff you generated
for the proposal as you like. I would like to go to press in early
September. Hope that schedule suits you.

latest version is FRA on [PRO,BG]. Bill and I are going to lake lagenita for
a picnic till early evening we will check in sometime during the day feel
free to call us at home (rww 948-2149) or (bg 948-4891). It has not been
spelling checked and I will do that late in the afternoon. John you should
check the paragraphs about address files and bibloigraphies, they are not
very extensive. Please change anything you think isn't ok. If you want me
to write more hunt me up.
 						rww
I will of course check in every so often.

∂03-AUG-75 1349 S,LES
RWW is scribbling some stuff for the FR part of the proposal that you
ought to look at. Also, the old version of the front end is in EXECS[R,LES],
if you would like to do some surgery there.

You will no longer get garbage reminders. Sorry you didn't
like that, I thought it was a great idea.

There were also some less frequent ones like lubricaing the
 furnace motor.
We are now staying at Ron Lebel's house (617)731-4831, while
he and Pat travel to see you. We expect to leave here with a truck
about the fifteenth and be back aboutthe 22nd.
How are you and family? Have you heard anything
 from Vera?

one of our stanford colleagues who knows the nsf scene best is
prof. james g. march. jim just finished serving a four year term on the
nsf board. jim also knows the ai area somewhat, having been around
it at carnegie from day one, and having had julian feldman
and fred tonge around him from start day at uc irvine (where hh jim was
one of the founding fathers).he also teaches a course with me called
 "computer models of social behavior".
